Is your home on trend? Check out these new design trends for 2019!
The beginning of a new year sparks fresh ideas and a reboot personally as well as for our home. Always remember to stick with what you love, regardless of what’s in or out. If your goal is to refresh your home with a new coat of paint or to add a pretty piece of furniture or to update your kitchen or bath, here are some trends that I found emerging for this year. You may want to try one of these top design trends yourself!

What’s In – Natural Accents
This year, there is great interest in the relationship between nature and people and how bringing the outdoors inside creates a welcoming and refreshing interior of a home. Anything that reminds us of nature such as wood floors, stone, and daylight and plant life will make you and your home feel more comfortable and inviting. With our machine and technology driven society, we are also nostalgic about past craftsmanship and handiwork, and appreciate hand made products. Opportunities to use custom mill-work and crafted materials are very important and never go out of style.
What’s Out – Accent Painted Walls
In the 80’s and 90’s accent walls were an instant way to make a room look like it was decorated. But instead, try incorporating a textured wall or wainscotting made from milled wood or wall paper on one wall in a room. Our color consultation services are available to help you discover a pop of color for your home.

What’s In – Bold wall Color
Our clients are getting much more adventurous. Sherwin William’s Cavern Clay is an ideal color for flattering and design-forward aesthetics. It’s a warm and earthy hue that is both casual and refined. It can be a backdrop of a playful, welcoming dining room or kitchen. Pair this color with some bright tiles, warm stone and sculptural greenery for a fabulous look and feel to your home.

What’s out – Mid-Century Everything
Mid Century Modern style is a fun and casual look and can bring back memories of days gone by, but it can be overdone and seem like a time capsule. I prefer to mix things up a little to make your decor style look more interesting.

What’s in-Comfort Everything
From soft carpets underfoot to luxury bedding so comfortable you’ll want to lounge for hours. Add soft pillows and window treatments to create a look that invites you into your special space. Spending the money to get these basic things right are very important and are incredibly gratifying.

What’s Out-Cool Grays
I’m seeing a trend now of grays being replaced with white and warm neutrals. Let’s face it, gray can be a little boring and drab! If gray is a must have for you be sure to mix it with white and warm wood tones. You can also add a splash of color in your accessories.
Do what you Love!
Regardless of what’s in or out in design trends, its important that your home reflects who you are and what you love! From beautiful accessories to your favorite color palette, every home can be designed to look and feel fabulous!
