Transitioning Your Home from Summer to Fall

When the days start getting shorter and the nights cooler more than just your wardrobe needs to start transitioning from the “Dog Days of Summer” to the cool days of Fall. I have a few quick and easy ways to transition your home from summer’s cool décor to falls warm earthy colors.

Harvest Elegance– Even though harvest decor is normally associated with a rustic design scheme, it can still bring elegance to your home. Instead of the expected orange pumpkins, try displaying white pumpkins at varying heights for a more chic and sophisticated look. Stagger pumpkins on a stack of old books and vintage candlesticks to add visual interest to a mantel or table.

Fall Vignette– Want to start small with introducing fall into your home, then try adding a vignette in your foyer. Use a mix beautiful ceramics and vintage pieces with a mix of natural elements, including pinecones, with rustic items like a framed burlap “Harvest” sign. Vary heights and colors to allow the eye to flow easily across the vignette.white pumpkins and mercury glass thanksgiving

Table Décor- You don’t have to go over the top to bring a fall-inspired look to your interior space. It can be as simple as decorating your dining table with small pumpkins and gourds in a row. Place a tall floral centerpiece with autumn colors in the center, to add height to the space.

Getting Cozy– Now is the perfect time to add a faux-fur throw to your favorite chair or sofa. Add some pillows in a soft knit in this fall’s popular neutrals or rich jewel tones to stay trend-savvy.

Try using a couple of these tips in your home and enjoy a smooth transition of summer to fall.  If you would like more ideas or decorating tips for your home please stop in our gift shop  and explore all of the beautiful home décor lines that we carry.
